Abraham answered, "God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." Then the two of them walked on together. - Genesis 22:8
When Abraham and Isaac arrived at Moriah, Isaac asked, "Where is the lamb for the sacrifice?" Abraham, by his answer, revealed his belief, his faith that God would keep His Word and promise (of bringing forth a great nation through Isaac and blessing all peoples of the world through that nation).
I wish all my "responses" to God's commands revealed a living faith like that of Abraham. We (as a family and sometimes just as a couple) have made a few big faith moves over the course of our decades long ministry and since that first departure from my career (to head to seminary), I must confess that I haven't always "felt" faithful. Sometimes I doubted God's Word and promise because things seemed so hard (not just on me, but also on the ones I love).
Yet, God is faithful and just and His grace has been sufficient. It will continue to be so for all the needs of life, no matter where we live it. May your obedience, like that of Abraham's, also lead you to be a blessing to those nations to whom you have been sent.
We get new ideas from God every hour of our day when we put our trust in Him, but we have to follow that inspiration up with perspiration. We have to work to prove our faith. Remember that the bee that hangs around the hive never gets any honey. – Albert E. Cliffe
