... knowing that I will soon lay aside my tent, as our Lord Jesus Christ has also shown me. - 2 Peter 1:14

What would you do today if you knew that tomorrow you would surely die?
A bit morbid? Well, Peter said that he would soon "lay aside his tent" (a euphemism for death) and he knew this because Jesus had revealed it to him. Now, put yourself in Peter's shoes. What would you do if God gave you this understanding?
Peter, knowing death was nigh, took the time to dictate a letter of encouragement to other followers. He chose to use his waning moments on earth to equip the saints. What would you do?
Here is a sobering truth that we all must face. If, in the light of our demise, we would do anything more for Christ than we are currently doing, then we are either living in disobedience or we are practicing hypocrisy. Take your pick of the two, but be assured that neither one nor the other will ever please the Lord. Let us be about Christ's kingdom business every moment until our moments cease.
Spend your time in nothing which you know must be repented of; in nothing on which you might not pray for the blessing of God; in nothing which you could not review with a quiet conscience on your dying bed; in nothing which you might not safely and properly be found doing if death should surprise you in the act. - Richard Baxter
