Fear Not

But Moses said to the people, "Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the LORD’s salvation He will provide for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again." - Exodus 14:13

As the nation of Israel proceeded out of Egyptian bondage toward the land promised to them by God, they consistently desired to turn back. Ultimately, their fear got the best of them and they did not enter that land for 40 years.

Fear delayed Israel from accomplishing and receiving something that God had already guaranteed, and it will do the same to each of us if we let it. As a tool of the enemy, fear can be extremely powerful, but it can also be overcome. We are able to stand firm and resist it by simply reflecting and meditating on God's truth.

Moses told Israel that the Egyptians pursuing them would soon disappear, that they were in fact, just a mirage. God had already decided to remove the threat, to eradicate it. Death for the Christ-follower is just like that Egyptian army, a mirage. Christ defeated it for us (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

That is the truth. Fear not.

Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
