His Temple

The temple that I am building will be great, for our God is greater than any of the gods. - 2 Chronicles 2:5

When Solomon began the construction of the Temple in Jerusalem, he freely admitted that he wasn't able to build anything that would properly honor the one, true God. Since the heavens themselves could not contain Him, Solomon rightly deduced that no building could "house" the Holy One either.
Yet, Solomon still built.
For the Christ-follower, God's temple is this fleshly body, which is inhabited by the Holy Spirit. We all know how difficult it is to honor God in this earthly temple, and we know how easy it is to fail.
Yet, we must still try. God is honored by our efforts and not limited by our failures. He is greater than the "one" for He is the One and Only, and His Body (the church) is comprised of the many who make up Christ's Bride. We are His Temple now and we, too, must strive daily to present a Savior who is greater than all the other so-called "gods" in this broken world.
If you go forward in the spirit of the original apostles and followers of Jesus Christ, trusting not in man but in the living God, He will enable you to pull down the strongholds of sin and Satan, and that work by which He is pleased will prosper in your hands. - Adam Clarke
