How Faithful

To one he gave five talents; to another, two; and to another, one --- to each according to his own ability. - Matthew 25:15

In the parable of the talents, we find a master who gave each of his slaves responsibility for a portion of his resources while he was gone on a trip. As the story goes, the master distributed his wealth according to the "ability" of each slave. While the master was away, two of the slaves doubled the master's resources. The slave who received the least, performed the worst.

Why? We are not given much insight into the mind of this servant, but perhaps he viewed himself as inferior to the others. Rather than attempt and fail, he made no attempt at all.

We are all gifted differently. We all have been given various earthly responsibilities. Before God it is never a matter of "how much," but "how faithful." With God, the attempt is as important as the outcome.

To get rid of a bad habit, start a good one. Trust God. - Daily Bread
