When the priests came out of the holy place, the cloud filled YHWH's temple, and because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of YHWH filled the temple. - 1 Kings 8:10-11
It was with great celebration and effort that the Israelites ushered in the completion of the Lord's temple under Solomon's reign. The celebration and parade must have been grand, but ultimately the ark of the covenant was transported from the tabernacle, placed securely behind the veil, and as the priests exited, God Himself entered!
The interesting thing is what occurred next, which was nothing. Nothing happened. All work ceased. No more music. No more ministry. No more movement. God's glory effectively stopped all that the priests had been doing. The Lord's tangible presence left the Temple servants immobile and silent.
In all of our church activity, we can miss God's presence, and in His presence we must learn to cease our activity. Is it any wonder that God told Moses to be still in order that he would know?
In these times, God's people must trust Him for rest of body and soul. - David Wilkerson
