If anyone speaks, [his speech should be] like the oracles of God; if anyone serves, [his service should be] from the strength God provides, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:11
The purpose of God's spiritual gifting is not just the accomplishment of His will and the appropriate blessing of the saint. The purpose of God's spiritual gifting includes the magnification of His glory through the revelation of the Son!
With this in mind, we should never speak or serve in our own power. The problem is not just that we so often neglect to use the gifts that God has so freely given for His service, but that we serve apart from His strength and truth. We are an independent bunch and dependence is sometimes defined as weakness. Yet, with Christ, this is how His strength is perfected (completed) in us. We must learn to lean on Him daily.
For the Great Commission Christian, going is good, but we must always go in, by and for God and God alone.
Grace is but glory begun, and glory is but grace perfected. - Jonathan Edwards
