In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. - Matthew 5:16
Light shines the brightest in the darkest storm and God has called each of us to individually be on mission, to shine His light, for Him. We do not have a choice in the matter, we must each find our unique place in the array of lights illuminating the path to Christ.
In order for our personal light to shine the brightest, it must of course be on display for the world to see. As light contrasts and dispels darkness, the life of Christ is most visible when enduringly placed in the midst of trial, difficulty, or perhaps a lost culture. As a person places a lamp or candle in a darkened room, God has left us in a darkened world to reveal His glory.
Light has no fear of the dark, neither does it hate it. It just removes it.
Preach abroad, it is the cooping of yourselves up in rooms that has dampened the work of God, which never was and never will be carried out to any purpose without going into the highways and hedges and compelling men and women to come in. - Jonathan Edwards
