But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me -- it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. - Mark 9:42
Often, within a local church, ministry to children may become an afterthought, a troubling necessity in place only to allow adults the opportunity to enjoy activities unimpeded. Jesus certainly didn't see things this way. When His disciples saw a group of children being a nuisance, Jesus welcomed them as a nurturer.
We should constantly evaluate our ministry to children. It is just as condemnable to neglect their spiritual growth as it would be to neglect their physical needs. If we are negligent we may raise up a new generation of anemic, unbelieving adults, then where will the church be?
In a word? Drowning.
You may speak but a word to a child, and in that child there may be slumbering a noble heart which shall stir the Christian Church in years to come. - Charles Spurgeon
