When you reap the harvest of your land, you are not to reap to the very edge of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You must not strip your vineyard bare or gather its fallen grapes. Leave them for the poor and the foreign resident; I am Yahweh your God. - Leviticus 19:9
One of the important principles of financial management concerns whether or not we live to consume or if we live to give.
The consumer earns a wage and immediately thinks of how they can spend it. The giver earns the same wage and thinks of the many ways they can share.
The consumer first considers their wants and leaves very little (if anything) for the needs of others. The giver considers their needs and the needs of others before they begin to think of their wants.
The consumer consumes all their resources with no thought of tomorrow, but the giver only consumes some of their resources and leaves the rest to meet the needs of those who have nothing.
Are you a consumer or a giver? It all comes down to what you do with what you have.
Live to give.
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. - Winston Churchill
