"Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops." - Luke 12:3
Nearing the end of His time on earth, Jesus warned the apostles of the persecution that would surely come their way. In the same way, those who are seeking to proclaim the gospel among the unreached today often include a warning of likely persecution when discipling new Christ-followers. Instruction is often given to these new disciples on how to be a discreet, yet effective witness for Christ, but there is the realization that one cannot ultimately hide the gospel, because Christ will not allow it to be hidden. True believers cannot be silent and ridicule as well as danger often accompanies such exposed truth.
While wisdom and discernment must be exercised, history proves that God's Kingdom often comes where courage and the blood of the saints commingle. Let us pray for boldness and clarity of message where there is no danger and for the strength, courage, and eternal witness of the persecuted where there is.
I believe that pluralistic secularism, in the long run, is a more deadly poison than straightforward persecution. - Francis Schaeffer
