No Matter the Cost

When he saw her he tore his clothes and said, "No! [Not] my daughter! You have devastated me! You have brought great misery on me. I have given my word to YHWH and cannot take [it] back." - Judges 11:35

When you said, "Yes," to Jesus Christ, did you cross your fingers, or your heart?

As a kid, in order to express the seriousness of an oath, I might have said, "Cross my heart and hope to die." On the other hand, if I didn't intend to keep my vow, I might have crossed my fingers while saying it. Yeah, most of us remember doing this at one time or another, which is why I asked the previous question. Were you serious about your commitment to Christ when you first surrendered to Him?

God was.

Jephthah made a serious oath before God and it cost him dearly. Perhaps you did not know the cost of saying, "Yes," to God, but now you realize that "you have given your word to the Lord and cannot take it back." Even if, the price sometimes seems too great. If, indeed, you said, "Yes," to God then your heart belongs to Him. He "crossed" it for you; no turning back, no matter the cost.
