O How Sweet

Can any of you add a cubit to his height by worrying? - Luke 12:25

Back in 2010, my wife and I had a plan (or program) for our lives and ministry, then everything began to change. Naturally, this produced some uncertainty and our early reaction to this change was to worry.

Where would we live? (We ended up in our kids basement, but then moved two more times before landing in a small town, where Cindy worked for some wonderfully supportive people.)

What would we do? (That took much longer, but what a blessing to eventually serve a local church and help lead an overseas church planting ministry!)

How could we leave the work we loved overseas? (This proved to be the most difficult of all the above, but the Lord saw fit to allow us to continue to serve indigenous partners to expand his Kingdom.)

Since we had some "age" on us, this (thankfully) was not the first time we had faced a life-changing decision and many twists and turns later, we remain) convinced of some important truths. For example, we know that God is sovereign. We also know that our path is in line with His truth and within His moral will. We may also be assured that He will provide everything we need to serve Him wherever He sends.

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus; just to take Him at His Word. Yet, sometimes, O how hard!

The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work. - Robert Frost
