Of God?

Many will follow their unrestrained ways, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. - 2 Peter 2:2

Henry Blackaby's book, Experiencing God, has lessened in popularity since it was first published back in the 1980's, but many of the principles within it are true to God's Word and are, therefore, timeless. One of those principles is that as Christ-followers we should seek to understand where God is at work and join Him. Of course, this raises the all-important question of how to know where God is working.
One simple answer to this question is that God is always at work where He receives the greatest praise, worship, and glory. In other words, to determine whether or not "something" is of God, just ask, "Is God being glorified? Is His Word being magnified? Is the worship of God central to every activity?"
While numbers may indicate programmatic success, they should never be a factor in the identification of a work of God. People like crowds. They also like success. What we need to know is are those involved in a "movement" are loving God more than themselves, more than their programs, more than their pastor, even more than their church?
If love for God is not supreme, then it is not His work.
Where God is at the center of things, worship inevitably follows. Where there is no spirit of worship, there God has been dethroned and displaced. - Sinclair B. Ferguson
