Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, went out, and made His way to a deserted place. And He was praying there. - Mark 1:35

Mark's Gospel reads like the eye-witness account of an on-site reporter. He seems too excited to bog down in details and jumps from one story to the next with terms like "immediately," "just then," and "after that." Yet in the hurried pace of his delivery, Mark included two sentences that speak loudly to the strength of the Person about whom he writes.

Make no mistake, the three years of Jesus' public ministry were busy, often hectic, and "on the move," but He always made time for His Father. Therefore, if you are looking for the origin/example of a Spirit-filled devotional life, here it is. Before daylight (light that He had created), alone, Jesus spent some one-on-one time with His Father.

Now, you tell me. If the Son of God thought it was important, shouldn't we?

True prayer is a way of life, not just for use in cases of emergency. Make it a habit, and when the need arises you will be in practice. - Billy Graham
