Problem With Patience

The foundation of YHWH's temple was laid in [Solomon's] fourth year in the month of Ziv. In [his] eleventh year in the eighth month, in the month of Bul, the temple was completed in every detail and according to every specification. So he built it in seven years. - 1 Kings 6:37-38

Do you have a problem with patience?

It took seven years for Solomon, his laborers, and craftsmen to complete the Temple in Jerusalem. The Book of Acts states that Saul (who became Paul) spent three years in the desert before he went to see the other Apostles in Jerusalem and then spent another eleven years in Tarsus before Barnabas brought him to Antioch. My wife and I surrendered to overseas service in 1988. It took us 21 years to arrive in West Africa in 2009.

God's plan does not follow a predictable schedule or program. His work is accomplished and completed when He decides. While it is always good to prepare and plan, as did David and Solomon in the construction of the Temple, we must be willing to leave the outcome to God.

By the way, I often do have a problem with patience and whether or not I struggle with it, I know that the outcome is always His and usually (in hindsight) see His perfect plan revealed.

The principle part of faith is patience. - George MacDonald
