He said to me, "You will conceive and give birth to a son. Therefore, do not drink wine or other alcoholic beverages, and do not eat anything unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite to God from birth until the day of his death." - Judges 13:7
Are your kids special?
Samson wasn't like other children. We know this. He was a judge and deliverer of Israel as well as a person of supernatural strength. His birth was unexpected and a gift from God to his parents. God had many things for Samson to accomplish and, therefore, his life was consecrated to his Creator. Samson's birth was "special.".
On the other hand, isn't every birth special? Shouldn't each child be treated as if his or her life could make an enormous difference for God? Have you also acknowledged that God has consecrated (set apart) your children for His service? If not, why not?
God gives some of us the privilege to be parents. Maybe we should return the responsibility for their future to Him. Perhaps they won't be "Samsons," but then again, God might have something even greater. Point them to Jesus and let Him determine their path to His greatest glory.
Sometimes we're so concerned about giving our children what we never had growing up, we neglect to give them what we had. - James Dobson
