For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there must be a sabbath of complete rest, a sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; it is a Sabbath to YHWH wherever you live. - Leviticus 23:3
How's your sabbath?
When God set apart a sabbath day, He wanted the Israelites to use this day as a time to meet with Him. They were also supposed to rest from their labors, which, of course, would help them get their minds off of personal needs/achievements and onto their Sovereign Creator.
So, how's your sabbath? Are you resting? Are you meeting with your Sovereign Creator? Many people have difficulty resting, but everyone should be able to meet with God in His honor, sometime, with others who feel the same way and there, in that place, find rest.
Anyone can observe the Sabbath, but making it holy surely takes the rest of the week. - Alice Walker
