Stay Grateful

The people spoke against God and Moses: "Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!" - Numbers 21:5

For 40 years the Israelites wandered the desert before they were allowed to enter the land God had promised their ancestors. Each morning of that 40-year period they arose to gather manna, God's daily sustenance, and over time, they began to detest and despise it. Remarkably, the Lord's miraculous gift became an object of derision and loathing.

Oh, that we would not fall into the same trap!

Each day of our renewed lives (if we follow Christ) we profit from the gifts of God, but do we actively, thankfully acknowledge them? Is it possible that we have gotten so used to a life in Christ that we no longer appreciate or value the difference He has made in it? Imagine how you or I might feel if tomorrow morning we arose and the "Bread of Heaven" had not come? If there was no "manna?"

He is our consistent, eternal, miraculous, all-sufficient, daily bread and we will only reach our "promised land" by His faithful provision. May we always be thankful and never guilty of loathing God's "daily bread."

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?" - William Arthur Ward
