Thanks to the Savior

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God. - 2 Corinthians 9:12

In the world of charitable giving, there are many reasons to donate.

For example, there may have been a disaster that produced an immediate, pressing need. Certain causes or goals might also capture our hearts and generate a passion to partner with our resources. Another reason might be to support a friend or loved one in ministry. Interestingly, Paul states that no matter the ultimate goal, when a child of God gives in such a way that the needs of a servant of God are met, he not only helps the saint, but the act of giving also results in thanks to the Savior.

Or, at least, it should.

When you contribute, who is acknowledged? Is it you or is it the One who gave you the ability to give? Frankly, though it may be difficult, we should always seek a path to giving that exalts God and not self. If our lives are truly hidden in the life of Christ, then anonymous gifts, gifts without recognition, are always best, for through them thanks are returned to their rightful place.

The greatest pleasure I have known is to do a good action by stealth, and to have it found out by accident. - Charles Lamb
