Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the house of my God over and above all that I've provided for the holy house: 100 tons of gold (gold of Ophir) and 250 tons of refined silver for overlaying the walls of the buildings, the gold for the gold [work] and the silver for the silver, for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now, who will volunteer to consecrate himself to Yahweh today?" - 1 Chronicles 29:3-5

What is the price of leadership?

Before David asked his leaders to give a single gram to the construction of God's Temple, he revealed everything that he himself had given. As he had personally led his army into battle, he also led them into the sacrifice of giving.

So, what is the price of leadership? The price of leadership should always exceed the cost of following, because leadership demands that a person:

  • give more

  • sacrifice more

  • go more

  • and go farther than all those who follow.

Leaders cannot expect their followers to go "all-out" if they will not go themselves. In fact, the price of leadership for the Christ-follower is nothing less than the cross, because our Leader, the Author and Finisher of our faith, gave His all.

Example is leadership. - Albert Schweitzer
