Undefeated

When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and an army larger than yours, do not be afraid of them, for the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you. - Deuteronomy 20:1

As Israel stood facing the Jordan River (and all that lay beyond it), they understood the inevitability of war, and as battle was absolutely necessary if they were to secure their victory, so it is with us.

Sometimes the forces of our spiritual enemy may seem greater than our own, but there are at least two things we must remember. First, the Lord our God is almighty. There is no force that can defeat Him and as long as we remain on His side, victory is assured. Second, the same God that freed Israel from Egyptian bondage, daily frees men and women from sin and its eternal effects.

If these facts are not enough to encourage us, then His track record certainly is. Our God is undefeated!

Outside of Christ, I am only a sinner, but in Christ, I am saved. Outside of Christ, I am empty; in Christ, I am full. Outside of Christ, I am weak; in Christ, I am strong. Outside of Christ, I cannot; in Christ, I am more than able. Outside of Christ, I have been defeated; in Christ, I am already victorious. How meaningful are the words, "in Christ." - Watchman Nee
