We Have Already Won

Joshua said to them, "Do not be afraid or discouraged. Be strong and courageous, for the LORD will do this to all the enemies you fight." - Joshua 10:25

When the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon were defeated and brought before Joshua, he told the commanders of the army of Israel to come and put their feet on the necks of these men. According to the biblical record, he did this in order that they would know God's support in future battles. Since the Lord had granted them these victories, Israel should remember that He would continue to grant them victory (based upon their obedience) in the future and Joshua never wanted them to forget it.

At the cross, Jesus defeated all your enemies. In effect, He placed his foot on the neck of the original sin agent (Satan) and sin itself. In possession of such truth, why do we then continue to live as if it were not so? God invites each of Christ's disciples to put their feet on the neck of all their spiritual enemies, to claim the victory that He has already won. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to each of us today. The enemy is already under foot.

To win we must simply understand that we have already won, and fight!
