For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles .... - Ephesians 3:1
Have you ever been in prison? It's OK, you can plead the 5th ;-). I am happy to say that I have never had that experience myself, having only escaped by the grace of God! But, let's not go there.
While I have never been in prison (or jail), I can't say I have escaped bondage. I used to be shackled to my flesh, my sins, and my passions, then Christ set me free and I became a "prisoner" to His will. Like Paul (and all other Christ-followers), I became a prisoner of Christ Jesus the day I surrendered to His saving grace.
Paul said that he was "held" by the God-given desire to take the gospel of Jesus to all those who were not a part of the Old Covenant. In another letter to another church, Paul wrote, "You have been bought with a price (the blood of Christ) and you are not your own; therefore, glorify God in your body."
Every person is in prison to something or someone, the question is, "Who or what is holding you?"
Either sin is with you, lying on your shoulders, or it is lying on Christ, the Lamb of God. Now if it is lying on your back, you are lost; but if it is resting on Christ, you are free, and you will be saved. Now choose what you want. - Martin Luther
