He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab facing Beth-peor, and no one to this day knows where his grave is. - Deuteronomy 34:6
Where will you be buried?
Decades ago I was headed out on a trip and Cindy (my wife) asked, "Hey, if you die, what do you want me to do with your body?" Say, what?! We chuckled over that one, but apparently the recent death of someone we both knew had prompted the age-old question concerning where to place one's mortal remains.
Most of my family is buried in north Georgia across from the family church. The body of the father of my best friend in West Africa is buried right in the middle of the family compound. One day they hope to have the money to place a proper marker on it to remember him, but until then, his grave is kind of hard to miss. The biblical record states that God buried Moses in the valley in the land of Moab, but "no one to this day knows where his grave is."
Wait a minute, God buried Moses, but no one knows where?
Moses was an important guy. God spoke through the prophets, but He spoke with Moses face-to-face. Moses was the leader of God's covenant people. Kind of makes you wonder if maybe the location of our physical body after death is just not that big a deal to the Almighty. Perhaps His concerns are far greater than the placement of our earthly remains.
You see, after death, it doesn't really matter where your body lies, because God is more than able to find, resurrect, and glorify the corruptible. You can absolutely rest in peace about that. Just be sure that your soul remains and lies with Him.
