Naomi said, "Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law." - Ruth 1:15
Have you ever sensed God's direction in your life, but well-meaning friends and family tried to discourage you from following it? Many times, God's direction is specific, private, and misunderstood by others. They just cannot (or will not) comprehend or understand all the reasons you have in obeying the plan of God. While these friends (or family) are not the enemy, God's true enemy (Satan) will use everything in his power to keep you from obeying God's will and desires.
Peter loved Jesus very much, but Christ once called him, "Satan" because Peter opposed the idea of the Savior's death on a cross. Naomi loved Ruth, too, but she tried to get her to run back to the gods of the Moabites.
Remember this: there is certainly some wisdom in a multitude of counselors, but the wisdom of God trumps them all. Follow Him.
We give advice by the bucket, but take it by the grain. - William R. Alger
