In 2007 when my wife and I agreed to enter the missionary approval process for our denomination, we didn't really know where it would lead us. We certainly were not aware of all the hurdles we would face and that we would make it all the way through training, move overseas, and live/serve there!
So many "hurdles" stood in our way (age, health, finances, opinions, ministry fit, etc.) and, of course, there were many new obstacles and challenges once we arrived and even after we returned home unexpectedly.
Was it worth it? All I can tell you is that through it all we saw the hand of God. We were forced to constantly evaluate our level of surrender to Christ's lordship and ultimately, our ability to wait and rest in God's providence and timing grew stronger and more durable.
Of course, these were just a few of the lessons. So yes, it was worth it, and it has continued to be, wherever He has led.
